OUR PURPOSE
Africa has always had extraordinary makers.
For most of the world, they've just been hard to find. Mais Af was built to change that. We go to the workshops, studios, villages and ateliers — and we bring the work to you. Every piece on this site has a maker behind it, a place it comes from, and a story worth knowing.
ABOUT MAIS AF
I was nightcrawling through Instagram and discovered this blackhole of gorgeous fashion designers based across Africa. Three hours later I still couldn't stop.

MEET THE MAKER
Stephen Myah has been making here for 38 years.
On the outskirts of Abuja, Bwari Pottery Village has been making ceramics in the Gbagyi tradition since Nigeria's colonial era. Stephen Nyah runs it today — training apprentices, sourcing minerals from across Nigeria, and perfecting the Bwari Blue finish that makes every piece unmistakable.
