September 2019

The month of September marks the start of the academic year, the 'official' end of summer and the start of longer nights. Summer peaks in once in a while to let you know it's not all bad and she will be back in a few months.
Here is our September hit list of events.

Boris Nzebo at Jack Bell Gallery

6th - 20th September
They say 7 is a lucky number and that may well be the case for Boris Nzebo with his 7th exhibition taking place at the Jack Bell gallery. A self-taught painter, Nzebo was born in Gabon but later moved to Cameroon, Douala where he developed his craft as an artist.
Aside from Jack Bell Gallery, his work has been presented at the Saatchi Gallery in London, Ifa Gallery Berlin, Maison Revue Noire, Paris and across various cities in Cameroon
His approach to contemporary graphic realism incorporates city scapes and city scenes with strong influences from Douala culture. Nzebo’s mesh of culture, graphic realism with vibrant colour are a visual playground and worth visiting this September.

 Africa Utopia

13th -15th September
In partnership with IndabaX, Africa Utopia will be happening once again at the SouthBank Centre showcasing black excellence across the world. As always, there will be a series of talks, exhibitions, workshops with some new additions from the IndabaX team.
The line-up this year includes author of Welcome to Lagos Chibundu Onuzo, fashion powerhouse Ozwald Boateng, cultural historian Patrick Vernon OBE and Afrobeat sensation Davido to name a few.
The celebratory aspect of Africa Utopia at the Southbank Centre is worth the visit alone and with this collaboration with IndabaX, it will definitely be a dynamic festive experience.
