Made by Stephen Myah at Bwari Pottery Village, Abuja.
The Gbagyi people have been making pottery in this part of Nigeria since at least the 4th century — a tradition that runs through Bwari, the community Stephen Myah has called home for nearly four decades.
This jug is made using a form that predates colonialism, finished in Myah's signature Bwari Blue — a glaze developed over years of working with quartz, feldspar, granite and rice husk. The result is a deep, speckled navy, every piece distinct.
