Made by Stephen Myah at Bwari Pottery Village, on the outskirts of Abuja.
This cup is finished in the Bwari Blue that Myah has spent decades perfecting - a glaze built from six mineral rock types including quartz, feldspar and granite, fired to produce those deep indigo and cobalt tones. No two cups come out the same. That is not a flaw. It is the point.
Stephen learned his craft from a British potter named Michael OBrien who lived in Zaria in the 1960s and 70s. He has been making here in Bwari for 38 years. Every year he trains five new apprentices. This cup is a small part of a much longer story.
Handmade. Dishwasher safe. Holds approximately 250ml.
